Pictured Above: Our hotel is just south of where the attacks in November happened. As we walked east to the bay we could see both the Taj Mahal Hotel and the Gateway of India (on the right).

Pictured Above: The Gateway of India is the awesomely huge arch that welcomes boaters coming into south Mumbai.

Pictured Above: As we tried to walk north, we were blocked by police cordoning off the hotel while renovations happen.

Pictured Above: I just wanted some proof that I was there…I know its a bit morbid.

Pictured Above: I could see some of the charred windows on the top floor. The news said, though, that the hotel will likely reopen next week.

Pictured Above: I waited until Mumbai to finally try some fresh-pressed sugar cane juice. Yeah, its green, but its tasty!

Pictured Above: The Father of the Nation. Gandhi. Alexis went and saw his museum yesterday. I’ve settled for his statue.

Pictured Above: The western side of south Mumbai. I walked along the coast for a few miles up to “Cowpatty Beach.” It was cool being in an urban environment and on a beach.

Pictured Above: Commuter trains hum through the city.

Pictured Above: Indians playing cricket with Victoria Terminus (really named Chhatrpati Shivaji Terminus now) in the background (the right dome). I’m not sure what the tall dome is…it’s not mentioned in my book.

Pictured Above: Victoria Terminus (the main train station) up close. A beautiful building. Unfortunately it also suffered some of the terror of the attacks last month.

Picture Above: The ticket counter inside Victoria Terminus. Looks more like a cathedral to me.

Pictured Above: The station was BUSY!
